Their story
Duke was thirteen years of pure, patient loyalty. A big black Lab with a bigger heart, he met every person who came through our door like they were the one he'd been waiting for all day.
He loved three things without reservation: the lake, dinner, and us. He taught the kids to be gentle, sat with anyone who was sad, and never once raised his voice at the world. In his last year his hips slowed him down, but he still made the trip to the door for every hello and every goodbye.
Thank you for thirteen years of steady, quiet love, Duke. You were the best of us.

Duke was the gentlest giant. He let my toddler use him as a pillow for years. A very good boy.
